AG A World - Here!

About us

More than Tiger Balm
AG Asien, founded in 1988, supports projects by social movements, grassroots initiatives and action groups in East, Southeast and South Asia. To a lesser extent, it also funds Asia-related projects by migrants in Europe, as well as projects in education and public relations.

The Asia Working Group aims to contribute to liberation from political, social, economic, racial, and sexist oppression. Projects that have little prospect of funding from other institutions because they are either too small in scope, too politically sensitive, or too unusual in their approach are preferentially supported. In doing so, the Asia Working Group attempts to react flexibly to developments, upheavals, and crises in Asia and Europe.
The Asia working group supports projects in the areas of education, culture, public relations, health, ecology, economic self-help, South-South exchange, strengthening the organisational capacity of groups, and lobbying, advocacy, and human rights work.

Projects should be integrated into a political context as much as possible and include their own contribution, which does not necessarily have to be financial. The interests of women will be given special consideration.
The current four members of the Asia working group meet every four to six weeks.

Application

Please read the general information applicable to all working groups before submitting your application!

Application Guidelines
Applications to the Asia Committee require written submission. Table documents and orally presented applications will not be processed.

Applications must contain the following details:

  • Name of the applicant group with address, contact person, date and signature
  • Group Self-Presentation
  • Description of the project's objectives, target audiences, and content
  • Breakdown of total costs and sum requested
  • Arrangement of a financing plan, including equity contribution and third-party funds.
  • Details regarding which other funders were approached or why they were not approached

Decision-making process
The Asia Working Group commissions a member to process the application. This primarily concerns clarifying outstanding questions, statements on the project's conformity with the Working Group's criteria, and a resolution recommendation.

The Working Group strives to make decisions by consensus. The case officer informs the applicants of the Working Group's decision, maintains contact if the application is approved, and later evaluates the report on the use of funds.
